Fabulous all round

What an exceptional stay - memorable in so many ways. Incredible service, the comfiest bed, a great wet room with a powerful shower and locally made toiletries, fabulous location and a wonderful breakfast. Thank you for all the thoughtful touches. We’ll be back again, without a doubt!

It was a bit underwhelming

It’s so-so. I don’t know why it’s listed as 4 stars. I stayed in one of the attic rooms 4 flights up. I wanted a balcony and that was the only way to get one. I wish it had been made clearer that I’d have to climb out of a window to sit on the balcony to see the view. There’s no step up or anything. With no lift and having to climb out of windows this hotel is not for you if you have any sort of mobility issue. You can’t really see the view from the room because of the balcony cement wall blocking it. The furniture was tired and stained. Probably because people have been using it to stand on to get out. The bathroom was small but modern. The television had sky but not many of the channels were working. The location was good and the toiletries were generous. The home made shortbread was a nice touch but it did come in a dirty, stained tin that gets reused. I feel it’s very overpriced for what it is, even with the 25% off offer for Jan and Feb. I was really disappointed with the scaffolding next door which spoilt the view. There were dead plants outside and chunks of slate on the balcony floor which was a trip hazard. Doesn’t look like it gets serviced often, probably because of the climb.

Please accept our apologises if we hadn't made you aware that we don't have a passenger lift, it is something we try to make clear to all guest staying on the upper floors. I do however believe that the view of the sea and Brighton Pier especially when sitting out on the balcony is well worth the climb. I will look into all your comments and attempt to make direct contact but thank you for taking time to review.

Sweet Brighton Secret

A secret I'm hesitating to share in case I can't get a booking when I want one. A friend who lives in Brighton recommended this hotel for me. It is directly opposite from the sea with beautiful views. Far from the maddening crowd of the other end so I slept beautifully. Picking it to pieces, I could not find a piece of fluff! Bed comfortable with lovely cotton sheets. The bathroom modern with a shower, tub and lovely products. Big screen TV, subtle and pretty decor. Creamy fresh milk and complementary homemade shortbread. The staff exceptionally pleasant particularly Jo with local knowledge of events and I rebooked my next stay after chatting with her. Comfy bar and excellent selection of drinks and wine.

This is my third time at the Drakes hotel and it keeps getting better and better. The rooms are gorgeous and the staff is amazing. But the main reason i love this place so much is the attention to detail: comfortable beds, home made shortbread in the rooms, the toiletries are exceptional quality and each room has its own personality.

Highly recommend

First time at this hotel, booked in the day as it was a spur of the moment trip.
Very friendly staff, willing to help and interested in their guests.
Breakfast was excellent, beautifully cooked and presented, waitress was so pleasant and accommodating.
Parking is close and extra to room charge but good value as we could use the parking space until 1pm on day of checkout.
Great location on seafront and short walk to attractions, bars and restaurants.
