According to the data from Skyscanner, last year Hiroshima and Kagoshima attracted just a fraction of the tourist interest of their better-known neighbours on Honshu – jointly receiving less than 1% of the searches from Singaporean tourists that Tokyo amassed on Skyscanner in 2016.
Not only good for beating the crowds though, Skyscanner’s data also reveals that these lesser-visited spots could also be a cheaper alternative for Singaporeans looking to make a last-minute break this Spring.
Based on data from March 2016, *last-minute flights to Hiroshima and Kagoshima from Singapore for travel in April were respectively 48% and 25% cheaper than flights to Tokyo.** And early indications suggest that there will be similar cost savings to be had on last-minute breaks this year too.
To help Singapore’s holidaymakers plan their Sakura trips, Skyscanner today released a cherry blossom map, with its hot tips for the country’s best viewing spots – from these ‘hidden gems’ to Honshu’s big cities.
