Gorgeous hotel

This is one of my favorite vacation destinations in California. The grounds look magnificent with gorgeous views of the beach. The rooms are well maintained and spacious. Their towels and linens are luxurious. Their toiletries, hmm, I'm not really a fan of. The staff are professional, friendly, and helpful. The staff at the desk arranged for my car to be charged, making it ready for a drive the next day. It was very much appreciated. The tram is very convenient for when you have to go down to the restaurant. However, you can walk too, but it would be a long walk, I suppose. The food at the restaurant was not something to rave about. It was pricey, but the quality was just average at best. Considering everything, I would say it was a great experience.

Filthy bathroom in a 5 star hotel

It was our anniversary.We went to Bourbon Steak house for dinner and then spent the night. We asked for an upgraded room but was given their basic one. When we saw the beautiful jacuzzi tub, full Of black dirt we were disgusted. We called housekeeping and asked to have it cleaned. No one came. When we checked out we told them about the problem. We were given a $50 deduction on the room; big deal! For a 5 star hotel that resort should lose a few star ratings. I do not recommend it.

Nice resort

I redeemed my annual Hilton FNA for a standard king at WA Monarch Beach this past wknd. I was lucky to prepay $200 back in June using my Jan-Jun Amex Aspire credit (I guess they stopped allowing this). I will use my Jul-Dec $200 credit for this stay. A few days before arrival, I was proactively upgraded to a one bedroom suite. Day before arrival, I was upgraded to a fireside resort view. I didn’t mind the smaller room since it was just my husband and I, celebrating our wedding anniversary. The patio fire pit was actually more special, in my opinion. It was a sold out night due to a holiday wknd and also a wedding. Cash price is typically $1000+.
We arrived around 3pm and our room (118) was ready. There was a lovely amenity dessert waiting for us in the room. We dropped off our belongings and headed to the spa for our 4pm appts. Sadly, the outdoor jacuzzi at the spa pool was not heated, boo. So hubby and I went back to our lounges to relax. Massages were ok, nothing spectacular.
I texted the hotel to ask about the Diamond F&B benefit but no response. I went to front desk to ask after dinner. It’s $50 daily. We used it at Part and Parcel, their on-site cafe. Our phone wasn’t working in the room, neither was our Nespresso machine. Had to call front desk from my own phone. I asked about a late check out, they offered 1PM. After all the issues, they honored a 2PM late check out. We would consider returning but the $70 valet parking seems extreme.

Beautiful resort, 5 star prices

The resort is beautiful and well maintained. The rooms were comfortable with a lot of attention to detail. The bathrooms were spacious and nice, and I really liked the shampoo and conditioner, The service was mostly good, though when we arrived there was no one at the front desk for at least 5 minutes, and another quest was already waiting. Housekeeping was thorough and responsive. As others have mentioned, the food is very expensive, as is any other service offered, so be prepared to pay a lot. The part and parcel cafe was the best place to get coffee, and the sandwiches were not bad. I loved all of the trails walking down to the beach and around Dana point. The whole area is very nice and well maintained. It is quite a way to the beach from the hotel, so that is not very convenient. The pool was nice, but it was too cold when we were there to really enjoy, so we only used the hot tubs.

Local getaway

A fantastic stay at Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach to ring in the new year. A gorgeous property located in Dana Point.
Received a warm welcome from Wilbur upon check-in. Upgraded from a standard room to a fireside resort view king room (proactively prior to arrival - noted on the app). 1pm early check-in accommodated (as well as an extended hilton diamond check out at 12pm). There's a list of daily activities (some complimentary, some for a fee) such as morning yoga, tequila tasting, wine tasting, e-bike tours.
A convenient tram transported you to the exclusive beach club. Lunch was tasty, service attentive, and drinks at the oceanfront firepit offered a fantastic view. $50 F&B credit can be used at any dining outlet.
We met up with family for dinner at Aveo Table and bar which was exceptional. Calamari appetizer was great, braised short ribs and fisherman's stew were phenomenal. Closely review your bill as our bill was combined with another table and we were significantly overcharged, but easily corrected.
The room was spacious, comfortable and the firepit on the patio was a great place to hang out with visiting family.
There are various pools and hot tubs with very attentive service.
Parking $70 overnight, $35 day visit, $10 with restaurant validation. Valet only.
Compared to the Ritz Carlton across PCH on a previous stay, our experience here was far superior (although the Ritz has better views). We were booked for 3 nights at the Ritz on a revenue stay and checked out after the first night. We would have gladly stayed at WA longer.
