Good location for me

I stayed here 2 nights. No noise either one. Room has TV, fridge and micro and soap. No A/C. There is a fan in the room. Right next door is a mickie D's and across the road is a gas station with some snack/pop items. It is walking distance to the mall that has a lot of rest. They pick you up and was there in 15 minutes. The bar/rest there does not open for break. I had a special one night of BBQ pork $18. Nothing special.

one of the worst sleeping experiences I've ever paid money for

I can't believe I had to pay money to sleep here. Really, I paid money to be uncomfortable and kept awake all night. My room was freezing. So cold I went to bed in fleece pants, long underwear, a sweatshirt, and a hat, and pulled all the covers from the second bed.
The good thing was it didn't matter that I was too cold to sleep, since the room wasn't really intended for sleeping in. Room 230 is really an extension of the bar - I could hear all the music and conversation going on below me until 2am every night. Unfortunately, the hotel was full, so I couldn't change rooms. I almost took the covers off my bed and moved into the bar, because then at least I would have been warm and awake and not freezing and awake.

Right there in town..

First off, with no rental car we decided to stick close to town/harbor and this was the place to be. “Crab fest” was happening and we were walking to it.
The hotel is older, not quite rustic but was available and importantly quiet at night! Not sure why exactly but doesn’t matter. We also got a shuttle from airport. We stayed 2 nights and recommend.

Clean, comfortable hotel in Kodiak

When I was searching for a hotel in Kodiak, I used Google to find the Shelikof Lodge. Google listed the hotel as 1-star and that made me leery. However, having spent a couple of days here so far, I can say that this is quite a nice hotel. My room is clean and quiet. The restaurant has nice breakfasts. The location is central and convenient. And the staff is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.

Few options for hotels in Kodiak . . . .

We recently returned from our Alaskan vacation and made the trip to Kodiak Island in between our stay in Anchorage and surrounding areas. There are not many options for hotels in Kodiak but by doing my research before going we found this little gem! Truly the Alaska feel comes with this hotel. We love the front desk people and the desk clerk was very gracious when we got there early in the morning by plane. We stowed our luggage in their storeroom and then went to the attached restaurant for breakfast. They also have a good bar on premises as well. Our room was ready early so we got to check in, great. 2nd floor room to the back right side. I really should have requested a ground floor room as my husband has bad knees so if that's an issue request ahead of time. The room was large with a comfy bed, blackout curtains, no closet but nice clothes rack. Slept like babies. A microwave and coffee service was also in-room, which was nice. Bathroom average size with good shower head. This hotel is in the middle of town so convenient to walk if possible. We used local taxi service to get around and usually ran us about $5 per trip. We would stay here again if lucky enough to return to the beautiful Island of Kodiak.
