Warm, homey, welcome!

A beautiful on the beach guesthouse. Owner Yvonne and staff are friendly and warm. Even loadshed couldn't prevent Yvonne to provide me with a warm cup of coffee after a long work day! Breakfast is delicious! So many places to braai - if weather permits! Thank you for your hospitality, will visit you again!

Very disappointed

Don't recommend.. especially R1,600 for one night in the so called honeymoon suite.. I did what I had to do I wrote to the owner personally explaining my unhappiness in her B&B hopefully it will change... The only thing we did enjoy was the view.

disappointment

Our 2 night stay at My Den was disappointing as the photos and description of suite 4 don’t match reality. The room was damp and musty (Yvonne later explained they had some water damages, which still have to be resolved), she shower was cold and a shower head missing. Communication was strange and not welcoming. We left one night earlier. Yvonne quickly reacted to our complaint and we could explain the issues. But I still cannot recommend the place.

Pleasant enough

Taking into account that this review is post COVID-19 lockdown with this type of establishment having suffered greatly, the offering was not bad. Pool was dirty and amenities minimal (breakfast offering for example quite basic). Our room was robbed while we were sleeping (they stole a Samsung Galaxy watch and took my handbag but dumped it on the property), and the water and electricity were out for an hour or so on 2 mornings. However, the friendly, energetic dog, Duke, was fun as he likes accompanying guests onto the beach. The place is clean and comfortable. The beach is absolutely beautiful and not as crowded as the main beaches. Lot of food and shopping places nearby as well.

Nice location, nice room but smelly bathroom.

We booked suite no 4 (the family suite upstairs) and got suite no 3 at My Den in Port Shepstone.
To make sure we got the room we wanted, we emailed the hotel several times.
All seemed well when our booking seemed acknowledged. But upon arrival we were not expected, and the room we wanted was occupied. It turned out that we were booked for a wrong date.
Furtermore the presence of a big white dog was an unpleasant experience. It barked quite frequently and pissed at our car.
The air conditioning in the room worked quite well and the view from the balcony was stunning. The garden is well maintained and looks nice.
A strange thing though: the room can occupy 4 people, there is a well equiped kitchen but no dining table or chairs to sit on.
Although there is a sign at the desk stating that smoking is not allowed, we smelled cigarette smoke in the bath room from time to time. It came clearly from another part of the building where someone was puffing a cigarette.
