A relaxing holiday with children

We were very satisfied as always. Room, service, food, staff everything was excellent!
In the mid-season, the value for money is also very good and affordable for family. Lots of understanding for children! Due to the central location also easily accessible to the public.

It was a nice 4-night stay in January

Very nice hotel, great ski bus connection to the lifts, cross-country ski trail passes right behind the house. Sauna and wellness close with 7 pm, probably so that everyone moves early enough for dinner. Breakfast and dinner richest, varied and without quantity limit, drinks as part of all-inclusive almost at will. However, the all-inclusive lunch snack, which can even be taken with a mere ski bus connection during the ski day, is only available at 12-13 o'clock and, with the exception of drinks, practically no choice. Staff totally nice, problems in the (safety) technical area prevent a maximum rating (on arrival smooth ice on the entrance stairs - despite their roofing, smooth ice on sidewalk even though litter bucket stood next to it, sloping threshold to the main entrance so steep that you had to lift the luggage trolley half a decimeter with your hands or tipped luggage off the trolley when running against it. No alarm button seen in the sauna chambers, unusually slippery floor - probably due to detergent - in the wellness area before the shower, time switch in the room for toilet trigger got stuck, the door handle to the bathroom was reciprocating so you had to fear a falling of the handle and self-locking, in the bathroom heated an old electric radiator without thermostat with adjustable levels 0, 1 and 2, the toilet in the basement smelled every day except for the corridor and clogged far too easily, there was no lamp on the desk or near it. A ski bus timetable was given at the reception - but not a regular bus timetable, which can also be used as a ski bus and for free trips to Bad Ischl and which you therefore have to get from the BOÖVV bus driver). Those who can cope with the above technical shortcomings and are not exactly looking for fasting can spend a happy holiday in this hotel!

4 beautiful days at Vitalhotel Gosau with family

We stayed in September with our daughter and her boyfriend for three nights at Vitalhotel Gosau and were super satisfied!
The location, the food, the drinks, the staff and the rooms were top! A very nice stay - we will certainly not have been here the last time.

Great hotel but cold showers and not for vegetarians

Great hotel, but not really for a vegetarian and certainly not for vegans. We are here for a week with our family in a junior suite and other family members in other rooms.
So first the food. We have half board. Every evening there is a buffet, usually loosely based on the cuisine of a particular country. Sometimes (for example on Greek evening) there is relatively much choice for a vegetarian, other evenings practically nothing. There is a vegetarian main course every evening and a very limited salad bar. Vegetarians are not taken into account for other courses. There is also no vegetarian lunch available other than a “mixed salad”. Not of this time. Quality of the food, among other things OK. Breakfast quite good, but no real juice, only limo. No whole wheat bread. The drinks are included with breakfast, they must be paid for in the evening. That is apparently the revenue model. Because everything is done on paper and our group is divided into three rooms, it is a challenge every evening to get all the receipts correct. There is a small fridge in the room, but no kettle for a cup of tea. Once the bar is closed you can no longer get anything to drink.
Then the room. We were positively surprised by the dimensions of the junior suite. A large living room with a sitting area and a TV on the other side and a separate bedroom with two single beds. Very small bathroom for four people and no sink in the toilet (!) The always cold shower causes points to be deducted. It's also a shame that there is no place to dry your wet things. No clothesline above the bath, no clothes rack.
Furthermore: Parking lot very far away if you are lugging your ski gear. Ski locker good. Sauna and small swimming pool are fine (you can take a hot shower there). Great gym, depressing children's playroom. There is a pool table and football table. Quite a nice bar to have a chat with the family. Still a hassle with the receipts per room. Did not use the massages. One small elevator is not enough if housekeeping also uses it. Often having to walk up and down eight flights of stairs. Other family members were offered a welcome drink, we were not. A bit random.

Hotel charges 100% cancellation fee including half board in case of cancellation due to illness

We had booked a skiing weekend with a group at the Vital Hotel. Unfortunately, I fell ill shortly beforehand and had to cancel the trip. The hotel charged 100% cancellation costs, including breakfast and half board, without compromise.
I googled a bit. The Austrian association recommends deducting the saved expenses from the cancellation costs (= 20-30%). However, other terms and conditions are permitted, including 100%.
In Germany, however, the deduction of saved expenses is mandatory.
I think charging 100% cancellation costs, including half board, is absolutely anti-customer and, as a precaution, I will not book the hotel again. I will also take a closer look at the cancellation rules for other bookings in Austria and, if possible, switch to more customer-friendly hotels.

Sehr geehrter Gast,
